Your first dashboard

Build, arrange, filter and share a dashboard. Learn how tiles, global filters, comparison periods and scheduled snapshots work.

Dashboards are where most people spend their time in Kimo. A dashboard is a grid of tiles (charts, KPIs, tables, maps or text) sharing a set of global filters. This guide builds a weekly revenue review from scratch, but the same steps apply to a SEO report or a SOC overview.

Create the dashboard

  1. 1
Start from a blank canvas or a template

Open Dashboards → New. Templates are filtered by the products enabled in your workspace. Pick Blank for this walkthrough.

  2. 2
    Add a KPI row

Click Add tile → KPI and choose the mrr measure. Repeat for new_customers and churn_rate. KPI tiles show the current value, the delta against the comparison period and a sparkline.

  3. 3
    Add a trend chart

Add a Line tile with mrr broken down by plan. Kimo picks the time grain from the dashboard range: daily up to 60 days, weekly up to a year, monthly beyond.

  4. 4
    Add a breakdown table

Add a Table tile with country as the row dimension and mrr, active_customers as columns. Tables support conditional formatting and inline bars.

Layout and sizing

The grid is 12 columns wide and snaps to 8 px rows. Drag a tile by its header to move it and by its bottom-right corner to resize. On screens narrower than 768 px tiles stack in reading order (left to right, top to bottom), so put the most important tile first.

Tile typeDefault sizeBest for
KPI3 × 2Headline numbers with a delta
Line / Area6 × 4Trends over time
Bar6 × 4Comparing categories
Table12 × 5Detail and exports
Map6 × 5Regions, stores, tracks
Text4 × 2Context, definitions, links

Global filters and comparisons

Global filters apply to every compatible tile. Add a Date range (default: last 30 days), then any dimension such as plan or region. Tiles whose model does not have that dimension show a small "not filtered" badge rather than silently ignoring it.

Turn on Compare to show deltas against the previous period or the same period last year. Comparisons are computed by the query engine, so they respect row-level policies.

Share and schedule

  • Share link — anyone in the space can open it; external links can be password-protected and expire.
  • Scheduled snapshot — email or Slack a PNG/PDF every Monday at 8:00 in the recipient’s timezone.
  • Embed — signed iframe tokens for internal portals (Business and Enterprise plans).
